Assessments in Coaching

If you’ve answered yes, our course on using assessments in coaching may be just what you need to take your coaching to the next level.

Our courses will introduce you to a variety of assessments that can be used in your coaching practice. You’ll get sample reports and contact information for various assessment providers.

During the course, you will have the opportunity to take at least one assessment and get one-on-one feedback on your results.

You will learn how to get certified in various assessments, how to select the right assessment for your client’s needs, and how to combine multiple assessments when needed to address complex professional development goals.

Assessments can help your clients grow personally and professionally in areas like:

  • Decision making
  • Conflict management
  • Change leadership
  • Team roles and team development
  • Understanding personality, behavior, and leadership styles

You’ll also get hands on practice with interpreting assessment results and integrating the assessment data in your coaching conversations.

Our series of courses are offered via ZOOM by Lybarger & Associates, Inc. and Coaching4TodaysLeaders and its approved by the ICF for 40 CCE hours. This includes 24 hours of class time and 16 hours of field work, mentor coaching, etc.

The series begins with two Foundations Courses (24 CCE Hours: 8-hours Ethics, 16-hours Resource Development) which will introduce coaches to:

  1. an array of assessments from Inscape Publishing that do not require certification to be administered and used in coaching (Everything DiSC Workplace® Profile, Everything DiSC Management Profile®, Everything DiSC Work of Leaders Profile®, Everything DiSC 363™ for Leaders®, Team Dimensions 2.0),
  2. an array of assessments (MBTI, CPI, Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode, Conflict Dynamics Profile, Change Style Indicator, Change Navigator, Leadership Practices Inventory, EQI 2.0, Emotional Intelligence Appraisal, Decision Style Profile, Change Readiness Gauge) from a variety of publishers that may require certification prior to administration and interpretation in coaching,
  3. the ethical requirements of assessment use in coaching, and
  4. the process of selecting and combining assessments in coaching.

The Foundation Courses include:

  • Using Everything DiSC® Assessments in Coaching-Foundation – Tuesdays, October 16 & 23, 2018 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm Eastern Time

    • Part 1 (6 CCE Hours: 2-hours Ethics, 4-hours Resource Development). Participants will learn the:
      • purpose of Everything DiSC® assessments,
      • ethical importance of being trained in administering and interpreting individual and group assessments prior to introducing them in coaching, and
      • importance of confidentiality regarding assessment data.
    • Part II (6 CCE Hours: 2-hours Ethics, 4-hours Resource Development). Participants will be able to:
      • select appropriate Everything DiSC assessments for use in their coaching practice.
      • carefully explain and strive to ensure that clients understand the nature and limits of assessments used in coaching.
  • Using Assessments in Coaching-Foundation – Tuesdays, October 30 & November 6, 2018 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm Eastern Time

    • Part I (6 CCE Hours: 2-hours Ethics, 4-hours Resource Development). Participants will learn the:
      • different types of assessments applicable to coaching (individual, group, teams, 360-degree),
      • ethical importance of being certified to administer and interpret assessments prior to introducing them in coaching,
      • various types of assessment providers and certification requirements, and
      • importance of confidentiality regarding assessment data.
    • Part II (6 CCE Hours: 2-hours Ethics, 4-hours Resource Development). Participants will be able to:
      • select assessments for which they would like to obtain certification,
      • understand assessment validation reports,
      • selecting and combining assessments for coaching,
      • carefully explain and strive to ensure that clients understand the nature and limits of assessments used in coaching.

Participants who have completed the two Foundations Courses are eligible to participate in one or more of five option courses which are 16 CCE hours each. One option course is included in the listed fee. (If you are interested in participating in additional option courses, they are available for an additional fee for class time, assessments, and two one-hour mentor coaching sessions each. The option courses offer participants the opportunity to select an individual assessment, a team assessment, or a 360-degree assessment and learn about it so that it can be used in their coaching practice. Each option course has two parts. Each option course provides coaches with the opportunity to:

  1. select a specific assessment and take it themselves,
  2. receive a 1-hour mentor coaching session on how to interpret their individual results,
  3. receive a 1-hour mentor coaching session on how to interpret the assessment results with clients, and
  4. practice interpreting the assessment results with clients.

The five option courses are:

  1. Everything DiSC Workplace® Profile – Tuesdays, November 13 & 20, 2018 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm Eastern Time

    • Part I (8 CCE hours)
      • Participants will learn:
        • their own DiSC® style and receive their own Everything DiSC Workplace® Profile report,
        • about other DiSC styles, and
        • how to build more effective relationships.
      • Participants will receive a 1-hour mentor coaching session on interpreting their Everything DiSC Workplace® Profile report.
    • Part II (8 CCE hours).
      • Participants will learn how to interpret the Everything DiSC Workplace® Profile report for clients.
      • Participants will receive a 1-hour mentor coaching session on interpreting the Everything DiSC Workplace® Profile report for clients.

  2. Everything DiSC Management Profile® Course – Tuesdays, November 27 & December 4, 2018 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm Eastern Time

    • Part I (8 CCE hours)
      • Participants will learn:
        • their own DiSC® management style and receive their own Everything DiSC Management Profile® report,
        • about other DiSC management styles, and
        • how to more effectively direct, delegate, motivate and develop others and work with your manager.

        • their own leadership behaviors using the framework of Vision, Alignment, and Execution
        • about their own Work of Leaders Profile®, and
        • how to take action with personalized tips and strategies combined with context-specific feedback and developmental steps
      • Participants will receive a 1-hour mentor coaching session on interpreting their Work of Leaders Profile® report.

  4. Everything DiSC 363™ for Leaders® Course – Tuesdays, January 8 & 15, 2019 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm Eastern Time (Requires at least 4 weeks lead time prior to class for your raters to complete their assessments.)

    • Part I (8 CCE hours)
      • Participants will learn:
        • The Everything DiSC 363™ for Leaders Model which consists of eight dimensions: Pioneering, Energizing, Affirming, Inclusive, Humble, Deliberate, Resolute, and Commanding, and
        • Their own Everything DiSC 363™ for Leaders assessment results and three things they can focus on now—strategies to improve leadership effectiveness that can be put into action immediately.
    • Part II (8 CCE hours)
      • Participants will learn how to interpret the Everything DiSC 363™ for Leaders report for clients.
      • Participants will receive a 1-hour mentor coaching session on interpreting the Everything DiSC 363™ for Leaders report for clients.

  5. Team Dimensions Profile 2.0 Course – Tuesdays, January 22 & 29, 2019 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm Eastern Time

    • Part I (8 CCE hours)
      • Participants will learn:
        • the Team Dimensions Profile 2.0 model which consists of five team roles: Creator, Advancer, Refiner, Executor, and Flexer,
        • their own Team Dimensions Profile 2.0 preferred role and its strengths and challenges,
        • the value of other team role contributions and how to work most effectively together on teams with team members who have various preferred roles.
    • Part II (8 CCE hours)
      • Participants will learn how to interpret the Team Dimensions Profile 2.0 report for clients.
      • Participants will receive a 1-hour mentor coaching session on interpreting the Team Dimensions Profile 2.0 report for clients.

The cost of the 40-hour training is $1560.00, plus the following additional costs:

  • The cost of one assessment tool. (Please see list at the bottom of this page.)
  • Two 1:1 coaching sessions for interpretation of each assessment ($200.00 for each session.)
