Back in July 2011, we explored the power of play. I blogged about Patch Adams, a medical doctor, clown and social activist who created the Gesundheit Institute out of his belief that laughter, joy and creativity are integral parts of the healing process (his story was told in a movie starring Robin Williams). I recently caught up with Patch and asked for his prescription for today’s pastors.
I would tell pastors that there is no data that being serious is ever of any value. I’d remind them of Mary Poppins, who was always about discovering your play in every situation. My prescription to pastors would be to put tidy whiteys on their head and walk around for a week that way.
What do you think? Are you willing to take this prescription? Let me know how it goes!
