How do you speed up your development as a coach? Part 2.

October 22, 2013 By //  by J. Val Hastings

Last week I offered answer #1: Coach!

This week, answer #2:  Work with a coach yourself!

People are often surprised to learn that I still work with a coach, even though I’ve been coaching since 1999.

If you want to help others be at the top of their game, then you need to be at the top of your game.

Let me illustrate this with an example. How eager would you be to work with a dentist who had teeth that were rotten and discolored?  Exactly!

One of the reasons that we require mentor-coaching of our students is that mentor-coaching includes being coached yourself.

Go ahead-become a product of the product.  Work with a coach!

Next week:  Answer # 3
