“I had been curious about coaching for years and was on the mailing list of a few coaches.  The time was right for me to invest in the Coaching4Clergy training which contextualized coaching for Pastors without limiting us to the Christian church. Coaching refreshed my passion for ministry and lifted some of the burdens of Pastoring from me. Now, with the changes in society, it is wise for all Pastors to become trained as coaches.“

– Rev. Erica R. Jenkins

What You Can Expect

Our coach training philosophy is that Coaching is more caught than taught! What we mean by this is that the best way to learn how to coach is to observe coaching and to receive feedback on your coaching.  Our training is filled with ample opportunities to catch coaching.

Our training is more of an apprenticeship than an academic study of coaching. While you will learn the core coaching competencies, the code of professional ethics and standards, and the guiding principles of coaching, our primary focus is on the practical application and demonstration of this content. For this reason, our instructors demonstrate everything that we teach. Our classes are filled with robust discussion regarding application instead of copious notetaking of concepts.

Many prospective participants wonder about pursuing a coaching credential while also working a full-time job. Our training is ideally suited for those working full-time. 50% of our training is self-paced and can be completed at the convenience of the participant.  The remaining 50% of our training occurs in convenient zoom classes. These can be accessed at work, home, or on-the-road.

Why Is a Coaching Credential Important?

A frequent question that we are asked is Do I really need a coaching credential? My response to this question is two-fold:

  • A coaching credential communicates that you have received training and have had your coaching reviewed.
  • An ICF (International Coaching Federation) credential conveys that your coaching has met a gold standard adhered to by coaches around the world.

Another way to answer this question is this: Would you ever consider going to a dentist or a heart surgeon that hadn’t been properly trained and had their professional work reviewed?  I’m certain that you answer would be NO. Then why would a potential client ever consider working with a coach who had never been trained or had their coaching reviewed.
