What would be different if you listened 80% of the time and spoke 20% ?

September 23, 2014 By //  by J. Val Hastings

During one of our recent coach training classes, we talked about the importance of listening.  The statement was made that “All coaching begins with listening.”  A participant commented “That’s also true for ministry, teaching, parenting – actually, all of life.  It ALL begins with listening!”

What a great insight!

In coaching, we aim for an 80/20 ratio of listening-to-talking.  That ratio seems to be ideal for bringing out the best in others.

Let’s aim for that same ratio this week – 80% Listening and 20% Talking.

Notice the difference in your leadership, teaching, parenting, etc….

Remember, it ALL begins with listening!

All the best to you,
