While leading a recent coach training event, one of our faculty, Dr. Phyllis Riney – PCC, was teaching on the importance of Sabbath, Rest and Solitude. She invited the participants to consider two perspectives of Rest:
- Rest from your Work
- Work from your Rest
These two perspectives prompted an “Aha” from most of the participants. It also triggered good discussion on the value of both perspectives. Several of the participants commented that the second perspective was almost entirely missing from their lives. The idea of working out of your rest was foreign to them.
As we quickly approach one of the busiest times of the year – Thanksgiving through Christmas – I invite you to incorporate both perspectives of rest into your life. Both are essential, especially as a leader! Consider what the benefits would be for you to work from your Rest.
All the best,
