Over the years we have had the privilege to provide coaching and coach training to numerous denominational leaders – including several bishops. One of our graduates, a bishop, wrote me the following note.
Here’s what she wrote:
I was convinced that coaching was a valued tool that should be in the toolkit of every preacher, teacher, mentor, counselor, staff member and even episcopal servants. I wasn’t sure how it would work in the episcopal ministry beyond the coaching of individual clergy and the training of clergy students. That all changed after several class sessions. I’m using coaching strategies in working with individuals but also in small and large group sessions with emerging and mature clergy and lay leaders. Who knew you could coach an entire annual conference!
I look forward to seeing what other ways coaching can be incorporated into the life of pastors, preachers and people in the episcopal ministry.
I’d like to invite you to pass this along to your bishop or denominational leaders.
All the best to you,
